ESHRE 42nd Annual Convention
Kato Medical Philippines with Miss Louise Brown—the first IVF baby in the world.
Last July 7, at the ESHRE 42nd Annual Convention held at London, England, Kato Medical Group Philippines had the privilege of meeting Ms. Louise Joy Brown, the world’s first person born through In Vitro Fertilization (IVF).
Born on July 25, 1978, in England, Louise’s birth marked a historic breakthrough in reproductive medicine. After nine years of trying to conceive due to blocked fallopian tubes, her parents became the first to welcome a child through the pioneering work of Dr. Robert Edwards, Dr. Patrick Steptoe, and Jean Purdy using natural-cycle IVF.
Today, Ms. Louise’s story continues to inspire hope. Since her birth, IVF and other Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ART) have helped bring more than 12 million babies into the world, transforming the lives of countless families.
Meeting Ms. Louise Brown was a meaningful reminder of our mission at Kato—to continue advancing fertility care and helping more aspiring parents achieve their dream of building a family.
